Laser wakefield acceleration (LWFA) offers strong potential as a compact, low-cost alternative to conventional particle accelerators. However, improvements in electron beam reproducibility, pointing stability, and energy stability are essential to satisfy the demanding requirements of applications such as free-electron lasers (FELs). In this work, we present efforts to address these challenges. A shock injection scheme was developed to enable precise injection control and stable plasma formation. In addition, careful control of phase rotation and beam loading produced monoenergetic electron beams with energy spreads below 1%. Recent proof-of-concept experiments demonstrated clear amplification of undulator radiation in the XUV range, confirming the feasibility of LWFA-driven FELs.
